Said "Screw it" and took a solo trip to Iceland

Not OP but just got back yesterday from an 8 day trip.

Route 1 Car rental. Affordable, durable, NEW cars. DO NOT book through Sad Cars.

KEX Hostel or Loft Hostel in Reykjavik. Amazing staff, bars in house, super clean rooms and facilities, etc. Check out Reykjavik while you're there. The church, the shore, all the shops.

Then head east. Drive along Route 1. On Route 1 go to Hveragerdi, where just outside are some amazing hot springs in the river up a road called Reykjaladur. Then go to Selfoss, and hang a left on the 30. There's a hot spring just past in Fludir called the Secret Lagoon. It's perfectly warm and no one is there.

From there, it's waterfall time. Seljalandfoss (a waterfall you can walk behind) and Gullfoss are really close to each other. But in between the two waterfalls is another hot spring called Seljavallalaug. It's about a 30 minute "hike" to this serene pool in the middle of the mountains. Next, go to Vik, the black sands beach. By far the biggest waves I've ever seen. Massive cliffs, crazy rocks jutting out from the ocean. From Vik, go to Höfn. But right before Höfn, there's ANOTHER hot spring called Hoffellsjökull. These are 6 manmade tubs that are the PERFECT temperature with the most INCREDIBLE view. Most of the hot springs are free, but this has a 500isk (about $3) "honor system" fee. There's no one there to take your money. Just leave it in the hut.

From there, you can either drive north to Myvatn, where there are more amazing CAVE hot springs. Or, you can back track back to Reykjavik (which is what we did).

My computer's about to die. I'll edit this later with a bunch more info if there's interest.
