Sailor Moon Crystal ~ Episode 17

Agreed: Koan got less screentime then she did in the manga, and Petz was barely here in her own episode. She didn't even show up in the trailer. Really the only one of the sisters who got good screentime was Berthier. She was excellently used in her episode, and they really built her up as a dark counterpart to Mercury, and their chess match was easily one of the most intense and emotional moments we have seen on Crystal. On IGN they said its a pity we won't see her again, as she was a very interesting villain in her brief appearance from her dowsing abilities, intelligence, chess playing skills, water magic and her ruthless use of pyschological warfare.

Petz sadly was hardly in it at all, but the animation in her fight was pretty good: I loved the catlike, toothy snarl she made when she unhooked her earrings to amplify her dark electricity magic.

I also quite liked that they gave her a character tic of snapping her fingers. They did something truly unique and unforgettable with the sisters in Sailor Moon R, but I've learned to savour what little I will be getting of them this time around. So far, Berthier is the only one who really satisfied me as they really improved what she was in the manga and amplified to be far and away one of the most, if not the most memorable villain we have seen so far in SMC.

I'm very excited for Invasion: Sailor Venus, as in the manga Calaveras is the polar opposite of her R self: in fact she's one of the only members of the Black Moon Clan who is given any real personality or humanised a bit: as we see Rubeus flirting with her by kissing her shoulder. But we see her grieving for her sisters and we realise that she was devestated by their deaths, and wishes to avenge them and do her duty for Demande, even though she knows she very likely will not survive her encounter with Moon and Venus. Whereas in R, Calaveras was pretty much 2glam2giveadamn.
