Sales managers: what do you want to hear when SDR candidates reach out to you?

I am on the same boat as you.. I don't have any sales experience I am a senior in college. What I am doing is **not** making it about myself. People like to talk about themselves, so I say in my **small** message "Hope you're are doing well. Your profile came up in one of my searches. I wanted to pick your brains about working as an (SDR/BDR/SDA). Would you be free to speak on the phone for a few minutes next week? I am available at your convenience, but some suggestions could be Monday or Tuesday at 1PM. Thank you." This is literally what I wrote to them and I have gotten a few responses back.

Look for people who started in the same role that you want and have a conversation about their experience, then work in what you actually want to inquire about.

I think having a me first mentality won't work in most situations and I do want to hear about their trajectory.

Hope this helps.
