Salesmen, what steps do you take during your car sales process?

Yeah, nothing's set in stone. I was just trying to show OP a simple step-by-step sample process.

Personally, I like to actually walk around the trade with the customers. More money for me and less drama for everyone if they notice me noticing everything that's wrong with the car and start mentally devaluing it early on (well.. I guess the tires don't match, and I forgot about that scratch, and..).

After we've walked around the trade, I'll finish filling out my appraisal sheet and hand it and the trade's keys off to my manager so he can drive it while I'm driving the new vehicle with my customers.

I wouldn't recommend multi-tasking like that to a greenpea who's never sold a car, though.
