Salvatore "Sammy the Bull" Gravano tells an mafia insane story from back in the day

For those who don't know, Sammy the Bull was the number two guy in the Gambino crime family under infamous mob boss John Gotti.

He is famous for being the highest ranked American mafioso to turn state's witness at the time when he testified against Gotti, essentially ended the run of John Gotti as one of the most feared members of the American mafia in the late 20th century.

Despite having been confirmed to have personally killed a large number of people, including a teenager who was once the victim of mistaken identity, Gravano served a relatively short prison sentence as part of his deal to cooperate with prosecutors.

Now as a free man he has been uploading stories to his YouTube account, some of which are fascinating. This particular story takes place before he joined the Gambino family when he was an associate of the Colombos and Colombo boss Carmine Persico.

I take everything he says with a grain of salt because this is a career criminal and he likely embellishes, but given what we know about his past there's probably at least an element of truth one way or the other. He's also a great story teller.

That being said, I'm not posting this to glorify Gravano or the mafia. I think mobsters are scum and I think this guy is a lowlife. Mafiosos are bullies who use extreme violence to take advantage of weaker and often innocent victims. Still, I think this is a rare glimpse of into a world we only really get to see in movies and it's worth a watch.
