The same men who harass me on the street run away shrieking when I walk my dog, and it’s glorious.

Dogs are pretty much normalized the place I'm from too and it's not out of ordinary to see women donning shorts and skirts around. I'm just conflicted about how much should I intervene in order to not completely overtake OP's experience or start questioning the validity of the post. I mean I did make the initial comment because I find the generalizing a bit unsettling and I could see people taking away the wrong idea about the situation of women here in India, which happens all the time like you get people sympathizing with you when you mention it's India where you live as if men are hiding at every nook and corner with a huge fishnet waiting for you to step out, poach, and take you with them as the bounty. In my experience, harassment in India is on par with any other country and it's more in the form of internalized misogyny than outright violence on streets, I'm open to entertaining the idea that it is probably more than anywhere else in the world but it's nowhere to the degree OP has mentioned. I refuse to believe that and it's the only reason I intervened.
