Samsung Galaxy S8 won't get Android 10 update despite being a 2017 flagship, allegedly leaked roadmap shows

I'm going against the popular opinion here, but I do not ever update my phone. I have a new Android One device and the first thing I did is I disabled the updates. I did almost the same with my previous phone, because regrettably I installed a single update, which screwed up the auto brightness sensor and it was a problem which affected every device of this model and was never fixed in any subsequent update (I stayed current with the forums for this phone) Isn't it logical though, that companies invest the most effort in to developing a compatible OS version which comes installed on the phone, as it has to be perfect out of the box and besides that is the one that the reviewers get to test when the phone is launched - has to be optimized for the best speed, battery life, everything has to be as close as perfect, etc. I had my previous phone for three years without being updated and I never encountered a single problem, I don't understand what the 'security' updates do for me or why is OS security even an issue, or why would an OS update be the be all and end all in regard to security. As far as features go, I went from Android 6.0 ok my old phone to 8.1 on my new one and I see no practical new features whatsoever and believe me that I'm familiar with both phones. The apps are what makes a smartphone and those are exactly the same on both phones. Thanks for your attention, whoever is reading this, and have a lovely day.
