First of all, I don't want to debate immigration policy, I was just using that as an example of an issue where a locality decided they would not expend resources to enforce state or federal law because they felt it was wrong. Another example could be recreational use of marijuana.

I am more concerned about the patchwork nature of what is going on.

I thought the whole point of having state laws and preempting localities from regulating firearms was to prevent exactly the patchwork system that seems to be playing out where some cities and counties are more restrictive than others.

Has anyone seriously considered the ramifications of what's happening? I find it improbable that sanctuary cities will be left unchallenged. I suspect that it will not stand up to legal scrutiny.
