Sandtimer - Vaporwave Is Dead [DREAM_0]

you make some very interesting points and I agree with almost all of it. but I should just put this out there and it may not be 100% because it's my perspective with my friendship towards said producer. firstly dream catalogue is not killing vaporwave or trying to rebuild it. earlier releases were clearly the traditional form. i've been a musician for years learning instruments and making projects and got uninspired eventually. but i was attached to music. until i heard aphex twin. same happened until i heard burial. they are not trying to kill sample-based music because it's still made in computer hardware and real instruments are processed to it. what his true aim is. i'm not sure. but when he contacted me to release something for the label in earlier days. it's vision was dream installations. so it's called dream catalogue. don't forget that pretty much vaporwave is a conceptual genre. you create an AI, an operating system, a fictional vaporware game soundtrack. vaporwave it's a very surreal/dream like thing.

truth is vaporwave is great for new comers and experienced producers. you can hear the many different ways producers work with samples achieving a unique sound. or recreating of the old or to emulate it with original arrangements. at the end what matters is what you put together. a lot of producers might feel like it's strict because people keep arguing vaporwave is or isn't. and limits many artists potential because it feels like a strict aesthetic. i've seen posts last year of people asking if brian eno's ambient jingles for windows is vaporwave. it hits me more that vaporwave is more experimental and opened to approaches. like i said before. it's all concepts/aesthetic's. the only problem sample based music suffers from is overused samples from many producersespecially on vaporwave. it's easy for newcomers to here one, it's harder for others who already know the sample and can tell there was little ffort into it.

future beats was part of dream catalogues aim since the beginning by the way. me and hke/subaeris when I didn't who he was we always had some sort friendly rivalry with our hi hat play. rattling panning and time signatures. every time i heard a tune all i asked myself was "how am I gonna top that!?"

for anyone offended by it. well getting offended that easily with that debate is the issue. vaporwave is not dead. removing vaporwave from it's bio and simply adding a tag to the artists contribution is far better. DC just wants to expand it. because everyone has a different view of vaporwave. and everyone has different ideas and results.
