Sandy Hook Dad Mark Barden: ‘Disgusting’ That Trump Advised by Truther Alex Jones

It might come as a shock, but this issue has a little bit more nuance than the stupid fucking headlines that got put out about it. Pretty much nobody supports a plaintiff's case for a victim of gun violence suing a manufacturer, the problem is that the law they're hoping to repeal gives protections to gun manufacturers that is not present for other manufacturers of consumer goods. Should cases like those be dismissed? Maybe. Should citizens be specifically barred from even bringing a case? I don't know, that sounds sort of stupid too.

You're either being disingenuous or uninformed if you're positing this issue as "Clinton supports gun violence victims suing gun manufacturers" when it's really "Clinton wants to remove special protections for gun manufacturers from litigation." You're still welcome to disagree with that position, but don't just misrepresent it entirely.

And just to complete the constant comparison to "suing car manufacturers for drunk driving" you're right that that's stupid, and the plaintiff should lose, but you're also still allowed to try because car manufacturers didn't get their own special piece of legislation preventing you from even attempting to bring certain cases. That industry protection sort of sounds like removing your individual rights when you put it that way, doesn't it?
