Sanity Check Regarding Sleep

Well first, your baby sounds quite normal to me from what I've read from years on these subreddits. And sleep training is not dependent on newborn sleep in my experience. Second, crib sleeping is always going to be an ordeal with most new babies. Some of them are more tolerant but they all instinctually hate it. I tend to believe "Velcro babies" are the norm. Think about it, they just found something so safe and warm and a supplier of delicious snacks, and then they have to go rest on their backs (which they usually hate) on some lifeless, hard matress we have to use for safe sleep. I would hate that.

If you haven't yet, check out the Merlin suit. My first baby loved it and slept long stretches. It was a miracle for us, but he was never a bad sleeper to begin with. Second baby was a much crappier sleeper and then on his own slept through the night one day. Every hour and forty five minutes, he would scream for a bottle...Until one day he was like, nah...keep your milk. They are both sleeping in their room together now, where they probably will for the whole night. This will pass.
