[Sanity Sunday] Cultural Appropriation

No, not at all. You probably remember the main gist of the events, so at risk of severely boring you:

After a Bosnian/Serbian terrorist assassinated an Austro-Hungarian archduke, Austria-Hungary demanded that Serbia take steps to eliminate the organization behind the assassination, and accept an independent investigation by Austria-Hungary to ensure it did so. Serbia refused and asked Russia for help. Russia mobilized its armies, though no war had yet been officially declared, and Austria-Hungary -- seeing which way the wind was blowing, though maybe not quite how big the storm would become -- asked its ally, Germany, to help defend them from Russia. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, and then Russia and Germany declared war on each other, and then everyone was fighting (France because it had allied with Russia beforehand, and England because it was worried about Germany's navies; the three became the so-called Triple Entente).

Germany did invade France at the beginning of the war, but not to be dicks; it was because France was Russian's number-one ally on the continent, and spoiling for war after losing the Franco-Prussian war. It was purely strategic. Britain really had no business in the war at all -- they just wanted to make sure they stayed on top of Germany, which had previously generally been on good terms with them (the British royalty being German, in fact) -- and although it's understandable that Serbia wanted to say "fuck you" to foreign meddling, it had funded and supported a severe assassination, though not officially... so Austria-Hungary wasn't really out of line, I think, and Germany was only looking out for itself and its ally.
