Sarah Michelle Gellar: ‘Every Time Marvel Does a Female Cast It Gets Torn Apart’ and It’s ‘Very Backwards’

Look I'm female and I've never had a man revenge porn me or rate me out of 10 to my face, never had friends do the whole 'poor you' stick for being single etc. etc. but the show made those things seem like constant and unavoidable parts of female life.

I've never denied that those things can happen in reality. My argument is that I did not enjoy watching she-hulk because while representation of bad male behaviour can help to raise awareness about misogyny, the overall effect of plastering so much bad representations on screen together is 1) a script that doesn't make sense - why is a supposedly intelligent woman even dating men if they're like that in her world and 2) watching so much exaggerated harm be done to the female protagonist week after week wasn't what I needed.
