Sarah Palin's Husband Confronted Son Track With a Gun During Fight, Police Say

disclaimer - I tried really hard for this to not sound like some /r/iamverysmart shit but the truth is I'm just wide awake at 5am and kinda high and listening to DJ Shadow's new album for the first time sooooo

TL;DR he didn't know what wtf he was talking about

Oh man I would have loved to set that guy up. I'm not religious at this point in life but was baptized at infancy, raised going every Sunday to church + Sunday school, confirmed (Lutheran), church work camp every summer, scouts meetings held at church and opened/closed with prayer, some close friends even did elementary/middle school at the church....and all of this in an area where all this shit was just normal.

I moved away from that area midway through high school and I still appreciate the texts in a historical context....but that's about as far as it goes. Doctrine-wise? There are so many holes, and so many super-religious people really don't even know the basics of the texts their doctrine is based off of. I'm kind of a manipulative asshole sometimes (first step is admission) so I would have loved setting this guy up, if only just to see if it would really be this easy.

This is getting way too long but basically I'd start off by asking him which sin is from the Old and which is from the New. If he doesn't know, fine, we'd just assume one is from Old and one is from New since that's his line of reasoning. If he does know, perfect! Now we move on to the Christian understanding of the Bible being the Word of the Lord, yes? Yes. The whole thing, yes? Not just certain parts? Okay, so Old and New are both the Word. If He is infallible, why would his word no longer be valid at a later point in time? At what point did God renege on his previous statements?

If that didn't get through to him and he then tried to pull some "well the New Testament was written by men," (completely ignoring that the story goes their pens were the vessel through which God spoke) he's now especially cornered himself. He's now suggested that the word of man is higher than the word of God.

And I honestly don't know where someone could possibly go from there. But I would have loved to see. Damn.
