Is Satan here on Earth?

I am not trolling. I am simply saying that Dante's Commedia is a work of nonfiction, giving an account of an actual journey. This was the view of Dante's contemporaries and friends, who best understood his intentions, and so ought to be uncontroversial.

The Catholic church does not have an official position on the Commedia. But there is no question that the Commedia is in accord with Catholic teaching; if it were not, it would not have been able to be published.

Please also note that Dante was a controversial figure during his lifetime, but that was not because of his theological views, but rather because he was a partisan in the 14th century conflict between the Guelphs and Ghibellines that divided the various Italian states from one another. After Dante's death, all sides wanted to claim him as their own.
