Saturday Trivia and General Discussion Roundtable - 01/23/2021

Its a super complicated subject but I think its far less of an issue for trans students who haven't been forced through a testosterone driven puberty. I think the Olympic committee has been thoughtful and sensitive about their guidelines.

It gets far more tricky when you have women who transitioned much later in life. They'll have physical advantages that will never go away. That's just the reality. It doesn't mean they aren't women. I don't know how I feel about it in that case. But again, I would choose to default to the Olympic Committee's reasoning and if they think its cool, well, they know a lot more about the subject than I do.

The only time I am against it is when a trans woman chooses not to medically transition. That sounds odd, but it has happened. A trans woman named Stevie Romer who doesn't take cross-sex hormones or do anything else medically was admitted to the Boston Marathon in the womens' category and I would be lying if I said I was comfortable with that. Sex based protections exist for women for a reason. Denying that is dumb.
