Saw this gem earlier today

I know that people have tried to explain how per capita rates work to anti-maskers/anti-vaxxers before, but I'll give it another try.

Oregon's population is over 4 million.

Idaho's population is just under 2 million.

As of today, Oregon has had a total of 2,726 deaths. This is a death rate of .07%

As of today, Idaho has 2,116 deaths. This is a death rate of 0.12% This is a bigger percentage than 0.07

Oregon has had a total of 204,587 infections, a rate of .005%

Idaho has had 193,597, a rate of .011. That's twice as much.

According to the 2018-2019, National Survey of Children's Health, of 365,952 children surveyed in Idaho, 23.9% had a mental, emotional, developmental, or behavioral problem.

In Oregon, 25.2% of 732,466 children surveyed had a mental, emotional, developmental, or behavioral problem.

That's a difference of 1.3% of the population aged 3-17. Both numbers are too high, but considering the fact that the sample size in Oregon was almost twice the size of Idaho's, I don't think it's fair to say kids there have it much better than kids here. By the way, you might be surprised to learn that the two states with the lowest incidence of childhood mental health problems are those liberal cesspools, California and Hawaii, at 15. 5 and 14.1 respectively.

I will concede that the GDP growth rate of Idaho (5.4) is higher than in Oregon (2.7), but it's difficult to enjoy that when you're dead or permanently disabled due to Covid or dealing with childhood trauma.
