SCG has started Pre-Orders for Oath. 49.99 for a Fat Pack. Here we go again.

Thank you.

I mostly like TCC's content, but his review of the BFZ fat packs was really problematic. He made a point to say "I bought 80 full-art basics for $12, it's so easy!" Here's the thing. What's $12 divided by 80? Fifteen cents. He used his platform to tell everyone "Anyone charging you more than 15 cents each for BFZ full-art basics, fresh out of the wrapper, is price gouging you."

Now, I'll believe him when he says he was able (at that time) to order those lands for that price. But look again. They were all Plains and Swamps, all using the two lowest value arts. Forests are all higher. Islands are all higher. Other Plains and Swamps are higher. I recently outfitted my Innistrad cube with Innistrad basics, and the best I could find online for specific art basics was 25 cents each. "The Professor" (and others) allege that full-art basics are worth less than regular basics, without caveat. But that didn't stop people from operating on that premise, because hey, this guy's "The Professor," and he makes YouTube videos. He's the dude with the juice.

It wasn't like this was a passing mention, either. He then used that specific $12 value on an 80-pack of lands to say "Yeah, sure, a BFZ fat pack is worth about $40, so go ahead, it's a good deal." He then warned people against paying anything more than MSRP, reminding people "You can always just get that same stack of lands for $12 online, lulz."

I don't fault stores at all for selling these fat packs what they're actually worth, as opposed to what someone with no individual stake in it tells people they should be worth, no matter how many books he owns.
