School cancelled as hundreds of Colorado teachers walk out Monday

Withholding for a month would not work. You'd need to withhold indefinitely. A debt strike is effective, not because we are depriving a bank of money on a day-to-day time-frame on an individual level. It would work because the banks would need to go through lengthy and expensive litigation to get their money. They could not possibly go after the millions of people that owe them money. And after a year and millions of defaults, they will be up shit's creek.

But knowing the way the American system works, they'd just pay off Congress to make debt strikes illegal and allow the banks to just get automatic wage garnishments or some shit like that. Economic turmoil is a threat to national security, so someone in the government would likely try some radical shit to stop a movement like what you proposed.
