School Shooting Survivors Say Congress Now Knows How They Feel

Definitely this should be a wake up call, sadly it won’t.

As a Mexican, living most of my life in Mexico City means having to always be fearful of public transportation, walking on the streets at any hour, going to the ATM or even stopping at a red light. The crime rate is higher every year.

Despite the above, I have never felt afraid of going to school, work or any public place. I cannot fathom how terrible this country would be if everyone was allowed to carry a gun (even if it means “protection”)

Foreigners like me might not be able to fully understand the cultural and historical background of a country that promotes ownership of arms to “defend themselves”. It just becomes a question of who shoots first, regardless of the consequences.

I hope the U.S. one day bans guns for their people and restricts their usage only to law-enforcement. While this does not mean that violence will go away (as Mexico is an example), having widespread arms possession can only result in tragedy.
