School teaches us useless knowledge and neglects useful knowledge

I personally think that all students should be taught how to cook and how to sew in primary school (home economics). I'm saying this as a physics university student who has always studied traditional academic subjects (and loved it).

They're useful life skills to have, which can be daunting to learn later in life. Being taught how to cook several basic things (e.g. rice, pasta, eggs, vegetables) can help children learn more about healthy diets, instilling good eating habits, and also make it easier for them to learn more complicated dishes later on. In a world where childhood obesity and related health issues due to poor diets are common, learning how to take care of yourself is vital.

My parents / grandparents taught me how to cook and sew, and it has honestly been so useful. I can sew buttons back on to clothes, repair small holes in jumpers, cook my lunch or fancy meals, bake... and too many people can't.

Many parents can't do this / won't do this, which is why a short home economics course for girls and boys is necessary. Maybe not in high school - but in elementary or middle school, where people will enjoy it before gender stereotypes become entrenched. (Even if they don't remember much, getting rid of some people's fear of cooking is a start).
