Science and Atheism are incompatible

This post made me genuinely sad. You don't understand how science works at all. The fact that you would quote Einstein as if he would be in support of your babble is sickening.

The entire scientific endeavor is fixated on finding answers to questions that have hitherto been "unknowable." You can't do (good) science and start with the assumption that there are things about the universe that we simply can't know. Sure, it's almost certain that there are things about the universe that we will never be able to find the answers to, but as soon as you don your science hat, you ignore that possibility and try to find the answers regardless. This is because we don't know what things about the universe are indeed unknowable and which ones we could find the answer to. So if we start with the assumption that there are things about the universe are unknowable, we are setting ourselves up to falsely identify knowable facts as unknowable.

I honestly cannot believe that someone would ever suggest that work on things like the Grand Unified Theory, the LHC, and String Theory are a waste of time. They are, in my opinion, the most important work that mankind is currently doing. The frontier of scientific discovery is paved by theoretical scientists. We wouldn't be where we are today without it. For example, satellites and GPS never would have worked without Einstein's (at the time) entirely theoretical Theory of Relativity. There's absolutely no way of knowing what engineering marvels we'll be able to create once we find a GUT.

And, by the way, we don't simply assume that the universe came from a single point because it's expanding. Up until the discovery of Cosmic Background Radiation, we weren't really sure. But the discovery of low energy, uniform radiation, in every direction we choose to look is highly suggestive that it was once very densely packed. That said, we don't know that the "hot" Big Bang model is accurate. It's simply the best supported explanation for the universe that we currently have. The work of a scientist is never done. Science will always continue to improve our understanding of the universe.
