Scientists Are Being Socially Ostracised For Rational Thought

I agree. What's rational is usually moral and vice versa as well. Not sure if you're religious at all but I have to say that the beauty of physics and it's laws of harmony were part of what led me to having a deeper appreciation of reality and developing a belief in God. To me life is the ability of the universe to experience itself therefore by respecting life we are allowing God to freely explore avenues of consciousness. At least that's the set of beliefs my academic life has led me to. I feel almost as though our individual consciousness is a doorway for God to perceive a purposely limited but interesting view of his creation. Just like how it's fun for us to be limited by things in a video game rather than using cheat codes all the time I think God enjoys seeing the world through our thoughts and actions as well as those of other beings including children and animals so the melding of my scientific life and my spiritual life has led me to have a unified view of morality and rationality. There seems to be a universal flow of reality towards more complex and novel experiences like VR, gaming, and experiences such as hunting and mountain climbing etc which all require human innovation and our preservation of life.

I understand why rape victims feel terrible about having the child of their rapist but I should admit that I'm actually such a child. It's embarrassing to say but it's also humbling and thought provoking for me to come to terms with it and my beliefs about God and so forth. I've realized that my life is completely orthogonal to my father's. I don't know anything about him and it doesn't matter. My mother loved me and although they pressured her to abort me she stuck it out and im very thankful because I cherish my life now although my younger years were rough. My survival has nothing to do with my absentee father and has everything to do with the courage and love of my mother as well as my will to expand my horizons and explore what it means to be human. Hopefully someday I can in some way undo the sins of my father by being a great father to kids of my own. I also want women who are worried about how their child will turn out to be able to look at me as proof that rape doesn't define the woman nor the child. We all have free will and as long as you are positive and focus on what you love instead of what you hate almost anything is possible in my opinion. Life really is sacred and it doesn't matter what concept you have of religion or God. I think everyone has to find their own meaning in life. Too many people focus on what they hate because it's easier to define and dissect what you hate. Finding out what you're passionate about requires both strength and vulrenability as well as the ability to accept that you might be wrong so you may have to adjust your views to obtain a coherent perspective from which others can gain valuable insights and knowledge. This is one positive aspect of our current political climate. The right has become the party that embraces both love and logic so the harmony of the universe is more manifest. That's my current conception anyway and by no means does everyone have to think like me. I'm always learning!
