I had been thinking more along the lines of them giving this vaccine during treatment those with high relapse rates and/or those who had already had an OD scare due to fentanyl. Those would be people choosing to be vaccinated. I know prior addicts, or in my case those who were prescribed opioids long term, are less sensitive from personal experience. It sucks.

I agree that the article does a poor job of explaining how exactly they plan on using it. If it doesn’t work to block morphine why would it work to block the several other non-fentanyl opioids commonly used? If it only blocks fentanyl then addicts would just pick a different drug. My hope is that it somehow works to block the chemical dependence. I’m not sure if it is possible to create something that would get rid of withdrawal symptoms too.

Maybe it works on heroin? Idk how many people are addicted to straight fentanyl, maybe more than I thought. Meth is the drug of choice around here.
