Why scientists dug up the father of genetics, Gregor Mendel, and analyzed his DNA

"Did you ever hear the tragedy of Gregor Mendel? I thought not. It’s not a story geneticists would tell you. It’s a scientific legend. Gregor Mendel was a Dark Lord of the Augustinians, so powerful and so wise he could use religion to influence DNA to create life… He had such a knowledge that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. Some say science is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. What's more, they dug HIM up and analyzed his DNA. Ironic. He spent his life analyzing plants, when he himself held the secrets he desired."
