Scientists Make Sea Water Drinkable, Produce 6.3 Million Litres A Day

Am I the only who thinks that this is far fetched ? Think about it. If they actually could purify 6.3 million liters in one day why did this story not blow up ?

An average Indian household uses close to 400 liters per daySource. This roughly equates to 12,000 liters a month. A small/town village with 500 households could utilize 6,000,000 (6 million) liters of water in a month. This device/invention then can easily solve the water crisis if expanded properly.

But if all that is true then why didn't anybody hear about it sooner?

Several such plants have been installed in Punjab, as well as West Bengal, Rajasthan, said KN Vyas, Director, Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai.

Clearly these plants have been functional for some time now.

Currently, the fresh water is being used at the Kudankulam nuclear reactor. But this reporter tasted the purified water - it tasted like fresh water, not saline at all.

I'm waiting for a chemical analysis if a publishing house is willing to do one. Not as to what the water 'tastes' like.

Wait and watch I say. If this indeed is true, perfect! Finally a proper solution.

P.S - I hate it when such important efforts are made up to be another media gimmick (I hope this isn't one). They purified sea water ! No one has been able to do that on a cost effective method ever. No one. And not one word as to how they did it, the methodologies, technology involved or the monetary aspects.

I for one won't get my hopes up until a proper analysis doesn't surface. This, if true, can solve a global fucking crisis and all the reporter says is - "that it tastes normal".
