Scottish independence: Using figures accepted by the SNP, the economic cost of leaving UK is truly shocking – Struan Stevenson

"Independence would be as bad as Brexit: we must remain in the Union that forced us out of the EU against our will!"

Grow a backbone, for fuck's sake! It is naïve to think that Scotland will be a land of milk and honey, but to suggest that we are uniquely unfit to govern ourselves is obsequious fucking pish!

Nine countries with comparable or smaller populations rank above the UK in the Human Development Index, including our neighbour Ireland, which incidentally was subjected to the same gaslighting when it sought to leave the Union.

I guess that Scotland could never hope to emulate economies like Finland (there are hardly any trees in Scotland), Iceland (fishing, tourism, and renewable energy would never catch on here), or New Zealand (when did you last see a cow or a sheep in Glasgow?), but anyone who is prepared to argue that Scotland is unable to follow a similar path to Slovenia, Estonia, and Czechia - despite our starting position being vastly more prosperous than theirs - is either a grifter or a moron.

(Sadly, our opportunity to follow Norway's lead has, in all likelihood, long since passed.)
