Screening opposing goalie in beer league

It depends. I’m 21 and I play on ~4 different teams, all differing skill level. Before my joining, these were teams my dad and his friends played on so with the exception of a few other young people, I play on ~4 different teams where besides myself, everyone is 30-60 years old. I am generally faster and more skilled than the competition. I analyze the other team in warm-ups and in the opening minutes of the game to see if I should be going “all out.”

Going “all out” can get me attacked or thrown out, depending on the ref or the opponent, like I said. If the other team is bad and we’re winning 3-0, I’ll just play safe, “un-dynamic” hockey to hold the lead and avoid angry old guys on the other side. If they’re winning 3-0, I’ll push harder to try and get us the win.

Why did I explain this? Well, just think about it similarly. If you are generally better than others, go ahead and screen the net but at least in my area, these guys will inevitably end up screaming at you. If you’re relatively equal to the overall skill level on the ice, then OF COURSE screen the goalie! It’s a hockey play / strategy, no????

I definitely over-explained here a bit but I think it makes sense. Just play hockey, eh
