PieceFall

PieceFall is a simple and short tetris-esque Puzzle game where you complete puzzles across a number of islands to help rebuild them!

It's been quite a while since I last posted about our game, previously named Aspect ([1], [2], [3]). In the 6ish months since then, we've been working on finishing our Masters year at University and mainly getting our final year projects finished, and getting started looking for what to do after University. We're all done now, and we're just finishing up the final steps and TRC checks to get the game published on the PlayStation Store!

So yeah, a lot has happened. We've taken on board a lot of advice from Sony, as well as other developers we've been able to speak with and changed a few mechanics of the game. The cooperative play wasn't really working too well and it resulted in the game just feeling... weird... when swapping from a single player to a two player game thanks to losing an axis of freedom, and we wouldn't have had the time to get that working well. So instead, we've moved towards making the single player better and more solid.

Also, we've changed all of the art! Previously we were a little too close to other games, but I think it's developed its own style now.

I'm not in the studio right now so I can't get images from the very latest build, but there's mainly small UI changes to reduce the clutter. The star system and score system are merged together, and the piece preview on the left is much less intrusive.
