Insurance companies are always going to hold a traffic conviction against you, whether or not it’s fair.
There are jurisdictions where they won’t even send an officer for a minor accident so there isn’t a citation involved. In this situation, your insurer is always eager to prove that they’re not responsible for paying a claimant or another insurance company.
An example where it could be useful: A woman hit my car on purpose some years ago in a fit of road rage and blamed me, stating she “had plenty of room to make her maneuver.”
I said “yeah so much room she hit my car” and that was the end of that, but a dash cam would have been handy to prove she was an aggressive psycho who rammed me and blamed me.
