The search bar is important. But do we want it to define this sub?

It’s hard to find out names of most of the real contributors here. Of course I mean everyone can contribute but I mean there’s a random bunch of people here that actually do hours, days, lengths, and some of the more spinfoils stuff even months of research before they post a theory.

So I’m not just talking about the guy that cracked the warmind valkyrie or most of the Niobe labs guys or the oG outbreak prime hunt ppl. I’m talking about quality people with quality posts that weren’t just like “hey so whaddaya guys know about VoG 7th chest??” or “hey what’s up with this wish 15?”

Wether it be lore related, match up to real life cosmology, juxtapose mythology, OoM exploration, or datamined speculation. The rare gems are there... they’re definitely not most of the front page content right now unfortunately.

Hell I’d welcome a wish 15 post even today (most ppl here racked there brains over it here and settled that it wasn’t to be released yet ... I think as far back as December of last year or so) if it was quality.

Example of a post that isn’t a raid secrets gem: hey guys the lore says “x” I was thinking that means “y” is probably in the game.

Example of a post that is quality raid secrets: hey guys the lore says “x” so it got me thinking on what inspired bungie to design “y” in such a way mechanically. So after some googling I found out “x” is actually synonymous with “z” in real life mythology and there’s some very interesting parallels between “z” and “y” which may go somewhere and may not. Here’s links and thoughts on the subject so you guys can tell me your thoughts

....

Well you see a lot of the quality posters and people who are responsible for deep thoughtful discourse aren’t the guys on there high horse commenting. I’m sorry... atleast not to my knowledge. It seems like they’re more of a resurface crowd or new people. Just like a lot of the search bar lording is karma farming. Most of that isn’t even people who’ve contributed jackshit to this sub...

Then you have well known users who drop in with solid evidence like datamined stuff. Doubt they’ve been insulting anyone tbh.

However it’s not the speculation... it’s the lack of prep, lack of thought put into it, and lack of actual evidence that even a spinfoil connection can be made. It’s not raid theories and some people here are still searching for secrets in vault of glass. This has never been perfect but I don’t remember it being this bad.

Even with all that said though... most of this search bar function and downvote shit storm is something rather new to me.

Back before the massive amount users that came after bA (or atleast feels like after bA) I would get into real arguments in the comment section with users here at times and neither of us would downvote each other. I hardly ever saw downvote and karma farming going on here. I mean everyone once in a while a guy would get straight starched but 90% of the time he deserved it.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that some of the more quality posters might get upset and are even wrong themselves sometimes but they bring actual a honest try at theory content. Every once in a while you might find one of them high horsing it (most of the time not)... there’s a lot of noob to this sub people here that are just regurgitating high upvote comments also though and it’s pretty obvious. This isn’t raid secrets at its best and hope your image of the sub doesn’t stay this way. A lot of the people here are super helpful and crazy nice. Most of the people who are downvoting people like crazy and lording the search bar haven’t contributed anything noteworthy. I rlly hope you don’t let them shape your opinion of this place as a whole and you stick around and get to see this place when they got a true solvable problem on deck. It’s kinda an awesome thing to watch and be a part of
