Is the search for audio nirvana an overwhelmingly male pursuit? (Probably. Why?)

I agree with u/ArchangBelle that women in mostly male-populated online communities are supposed to prove themselves from the get-go, while male newcomers may ask whatever uninformed question and get answers, recommendations and advices in return. This has always struck as a very intimidatory attitude towards women, in every online community. I don't understand how women are supposed to make progress in any hobby if they don't get started somewhere.

People may also have a 'housewife view' of women. Women work and take care of the house and children while men have a bit more time to cultivate their hobbies after work so how can women possibly get on the same level as men in the same hobbies? I'm sure I haven't expressed this concept very well because I don't quite understand it myself but from conversations I've had with women friends it seems to be an issue in many online communities.

One thing which doesn't bode well for women audiophiles in my opinion is that there seems to be a rejection for the 'average audiophile.' For example, my interests include literature, mechanical keyboards, soldering, photoshop and music, to name a few. I also have a life going on in all this so I don't have the time to study audio physics and reach the sophisticated level I've seen in many threads here and this seems to be anathema.

If you pardon the gamer metaphor, it's as if an audiophile with level 10 knowledge will be never be a true audiophile in comparison to level 100 fellow audiophiles. You can't stay an average guy in your hobbies apparently which irks me quite a bit because, I repeat myself, some days I'm ok with reading audiophiles threads, articles and reviews the whole evening, other days I watch soldering tutorials, other days I rant about gatern vs cherry mx switches and this makes me a crappy, not-dedicated-enough audiophile apparently.

And if women are supposed to prove themselves as level 100 from the get-go to avoid condescension and "go back to the kitchen" memes, this mindset doesn't work very well for integration.

But again, do male audiophiles even when want women audiophiles to join in? I don't think so.
