Season 2, Episode 9 discussion (spoliers)

I really dislike Demelza, I think she's made so many stupid mistakes and showed a complete lack of basic common sense on many occasions.

Firstly, back in series 1 where she entrapped Ross and seduced him, then essentially demanded that he marry her (by flouncing off and making him feel guilty).

Then, when Trenwith fell ill, she went to nurse them against Ross's wishes, what was much worse and proves her stupidity is the fact she then brought the illness home with her which killed their daughter. Yet she never seemed to express any regret over what she did and now appears to have forgotten all about her.

Another time she proved how she was lacking in mental function was when she kept going fishing even though Ross told her what a stupid idea it was, then he had to rescue her when she almost drowned.

And the time when she interfered with Poldark family affairs and arranged for Verity to meet her lover which almost went very badly wrong and could have resulted in a family being split for good or worse.

Ross I think has been incredibly patient with her, despite never being in love with her from the start. She seduced him and he succumbed in a moment of weakness and since then she's been a millstone around his neck that he hasn't been able to shake off. He never reproaches her for her frequent serious errors of judgement and generally is very forbearing.

Of course Ross cheating on her was wrong, but I don't think kicking him out of his own room in his own house and petulantly refusing to do any chores is any way to go about fixing it. If she wants out of the marriage then she should say so, if not then work on fixing it instead of the awful situation they have now.
