Season 2 rant on chemistry and sexuality - total wish fulfillment

Oh yeah, that diner scene! That made absolutely no sense!
Boy: 'Hey, a sad alone dude. Mom, can sad alone dude sit with us?'
Mom: 'Sure, honey.'
::Sad alone dude sits, starts being sad and alone::
Family: Uh, we did not sign up for this.

Uh, yes, family, you did. you did sign up for exactly this.
And don't even get me started on the "homesick" bullshit. LA isn't even his goddamn home! Christ.
It took me a moment to remember the chick hitting on him. That was crazy, too! I mean, even if you DO have a boyfriend, I'm fucking sorry, no single woman with a boyfriend is buying a drink for a dude she just met. That's not progressive. That's confused and definitely interested.

Yeah, you laid the rest of how this is gonna go pretty well. And I think the main reason all of this bullshit is infuriating is because it could have been interesting and rich with character development. There was potential. But all of it was shit away for, what in my opinion was, wish fulfillment. And if not that, then purely terrible storytelling.
