Excellent. Thank you. This deserves attention.
The Beatles defined the 60s over-ear bowl look that plagued America well into the 70s and 80s. I am firmly in the camp of belief that the Vermillion mustache+bowl look is based on Sonny Bono, but that deserves a big asterisk crediting the Beatles.
Sonny endures as a cultural joke: the vestigial fame organ of Cher, a political figure to California (specificially Mayor between Governors Reagan and Schwartzenegger), and promptly dead by way of embarrassing accident, spurring an also-enduring joke that America's royalty can't see the forest for the trees.
Then there's the cheap Melodyne filter as GLaDOS effect, anachronistic and awesome. No complaints, but I do cringe at the idea that people think Portal references are ancient, when Sonny and the Beatles are twice so.
