Security Clearance & Friend’s Dishonesty

I “came clean” at the interview in basic and it was... well it was bitter-sweet. It turned into get SEP’d or reclass and obviously, I reclassed. I went from IT > ITS > IT (because I really didn’t want to mess with subs and I said as much at one of the spec phys) > STG I already have secret clearance so I’m go to go there but yeah. If he comes clean, and I highly advise that he does, he will most likely have to reclass depending on the case. I wasn’t clear on some of my mental medical history which is a pretty big deal. Plus I didn’t want them coming and interviewing my friends and family only to find out I had withheld some information. I don’t like delaying the inevitable. Anyway, they were going to put me through like, a week and a half or so worth of screenings and evaluations to see if I was mentally stable. My RDC wasn’t too happy about this because it was just a couple weeks before FEP, he went so far as to call the lady and when he hung up the phone he looked at me and said “would you like to stay in the navy?” And I said, “yes, senior chief, of course.” And he said, “then you’re going to have to reclass” It was pretty messy from start to finish but regardless of how it was then, I can rest easy because I have nothing left to hide.

TL;DR He should come clean and get through the pain-in-the-ass process so it doesn’t come back to haunt him in the future.
