Just remembered this is Backcountry. Play it again is still a good option for Backcountry (sometimes but it is very slim). If you're looking for boots get something with a decent and non gimmicky walk mode and possibly pin bindings(with pin compatible boots) if you have that option. They are better on uphill but they are really new so the safety of downhill is questionable because of how they release. Frame bindings are nice, but can be mega clunky so the option is there but is nowhere near as efficient transitioning
Skis- Something with enough bite in ice, stable, and is decent in powder. Hard to describe but your usually looking for is something with a semi thick sidecut but is sharp
