Seeking feedback: Asian Mom making comments on my one year old's body/appetite

My dad hit me until I switched to being right-handed, essentially training me like a dog. I harbor great anger and resentment as a result. Your mom might think she’s doing the right thing but she’s stifling your child’s authentic nature.

That same father also told me when I was 10 that if I was fat at 18, he’d pay for liposuction. Again, I grew up to understand that he’s a toxic controlling asshole with a selfish agenda: molding children into something he deemed acceptable.

His death was the only thing that allowed me to become the person I wanted to be, so I don’t have advice for you. But my advice to your mom is beware, because if your kid grows up to have healthy self esteem, her “good intentions” will backfire and that grandchild won’t be interested in having a relationship with her.
