Seeking much needed advice

Questions to ask yourself:

  1. Do you want to go to medical school or graduate school or is that what your parents want for you?
  2. Are you happy in your major?
  3. Do you have a strong support network of Black women at your school?
  4. Are you happy with the people you surround yourself with: your circle of friends, significant other?
  5. Do you make time to focus on what makes you happy (hobbies, etc?)
  6. Do you take care of your body (eat clean, exercise, yoga, meditate)?
  7. Imagine you were an orphan, forget about your parents for a split second, close your eyes and imagine your life. What would you be doing right now if you could? Is it taking a gap year? Volunteering? Backpacking abroad? Interning? Starting a business? If your parents were not in the picture, what would you be studying?
  8. Imagine your life ten years from now. What profession are you in? Are you happy?

The thing is, if you're not living your life for you, you'll never be happy. Your grades might suffer. It sounds like you are well on your way to burning out.

Make a vision board. Journal. It's admirable you care so much about your parents' sacrifices but would they want you to sacrifice your mental health for their dreams of success for you?
