Seems like common sense to me

I went to college in a small college town where most renters were teenagers on their own for the first time in their lives and didn't know their rights. So of course I ended up having a shitty landlord who wouldn't fix the water heater in more than a week. Lucky for me, my parents had previously worked in a leasing office and knew all about tenant rights and told me exactly what to do and what to say to get that shit fixed within the hour, but who the hell knows how much longer those assholes would have let it go unfixed if my parents hadn't told me I had rights. And of course the landlord didn't offer to renew my lease at the end of the year even though I was otherwise a model tenant, not that I would have wanted to stay either.
