Selective mutism is the worst.

Hey man, I know the pain.

I've been out of high school for two years now and looking back I was in your same situation. Not that I've changed much but it was a pain to live through.

People seen me as the quiet kid of the class. I was indeed pretty quiet, even around groups of friends I was running out of things to say to keep a conversation going - other times spend nearly a whole period without talking to anyone but maybe the teacher.

I believe as time went on I opened up a little more but the problem never went away. Another factor that got me somewhere was my change of schools after I finished the 7th grade -- went from a class of 34 to a small group of 12 (a 'charter' K-12 school with maybe 300 students total) and the rest went from there.

I can't offer any solid advice other than just hanging on - keep your head up. If you're the quiet person of the class I'm sure some will understand. Hang with a friend or two and see if you're willing to socializing with them. Either that'll help you open up to others in your class(es) or not help much at all.

Trust me, it sucks. Many of these days at home I wish I could go back and change things. I do a bit of therapy every now and then. It's not helping me tons but it leaves me with someone who I can vent out to.
