« It is by piercing through the mirror of appearances that Valerie Zsvej suggests a convergence between the visible and invisible part of self. Through a body that she cleverly offers to the beholder with her photographic technique, it is in fact her soul that she unveils with violence. The sexuality and eroticism used as fronts are, foremost, the most tangible expression of her individuation process. An unbridled and perverse sequence whose utmost goal is that of thrusting the being ever further, akin to a slow yet thundering ejaculation, is what the artist offers us -- consuming all space until the world no longer suffices to satisfy her desire for elevation. Through this frenzied dance of the self, she shatters the realm of appearances in a bid to carve the ideal being. »
