Barrel Bash: Smash & Dash (An Endless Runner) Game Type: Isometric Endless Runner (Mobile Game App) Platforms: Android Google Play Store (iOS pending approval) Promotion Type: Release and Feedback Promoter's Name and Role: Vincent Chuang – Lead Game Designer (Infinity Core) What is it? Barrel Bash is our first foray into mobile game apps, which we then picked Endless Runners as a genre to start out with. Our focus was to make the game unique through amusing graphics and controls that kids and senior citizens could play (tapping and swiping controls that are conveniently located on strategic parts of the screen for ease of control with two hands).

In Barrel Bash: Smash & Dash, the player must escape from the local law enforcement (with the occasional vigilantes), traveling from the farmlands, city outskirts all the way into the CBD. Weaving in and out of insane traffic is just the beginning as more lanes start to open up (you start on just 3 lanes), adding to the chaos and mayhem. In order to pass each stage (in Stage Mode), players will encounter time limits halfway through the stage, which they must reach the traffic lights and beat them before time ends to clear the stage and earn coins (for upgrading power ups!). The player’s health drains as he/she starts barrelling through the levels so keep an eye out for obstacles!

There are a total of 3 game modes, Stage/Endless/Challenge so we can cater to different skill levels of players. Of course, power ups are a must as games are all about giving a sense of progression to players (who doesn’t enjoy the sound of a level up?). While most endless runners go with the option of power ups being obtained during the ‘run’ itself, we choose to differentiate ourselves by allowing the players to CUSTOMISE their own power ups, Players will have the choice of up to two different power ups at once before starting on a ‘run’, along with the default “Boost” power up (speeds up the player at the cost of health). Other customisations include a skill tree for the “Boost” power up, which allows the player to customise what kind of sub effects will trigger when players activate their “Boost” mode. Overall, we went for freedom of customisations for the players as well as amusing graphics to set ourselves from other Endless Runners on the app market.

The Android version is already out on the Google Play Store, while Apple is still reviewing our iOS submission (we learnt first-hand that Android approves apps faster hmm).

What we need • We need more exposure and feedback! As an indie game production company in Singapore, this is our first foray into the mobile app market and we would really appreciate more exposure and feedback on the game itself. Please consider sharing our links and downloading our game to try it out! Every click helps, and we want to better ourselves and design more fun games in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this long wall of text, and we look forward to receiving your feedback. I am contactable through this email if there’s any ‘official’ enquiries! [email protected]
