So is the Self splitting an experiencing itself intellegent design?

The self is formed in the fathomless past from pieces that constitute what a mind needs to form. This, itself, may be pieces of a former mind so there is no telling what happened before mind formed.

It did form from universal mind, but for a smaller mind to form, the conditions for its formation must be present.

Unless the mind reaches a certain realization again, it will be shattered into constituents again, waiting for another chance to form and manifest. If it reaches a certain stage, it may spend eons in samsara before encountering dharma. Once encountering Dharma, awakening and liberation are inevitable.

Reality consists of generating buddhas so there are innumerable buddhas and the contemplation of this infinity is an important tool in some traditions.

I had the same question.
