[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread

Don't get Danial Wellington or any other overpriced fashion watch. If you want that style, get them cheap from China directly. AliExpress and other sites have many options.

This is the reason why people who care about watches don't like DW. They try to convince people who really want to get their money's worth to spend too much money on cheap watches.

I found a nice album of photos that sums up fairly well the style I'm going for, can someone point me towards anything?

That style is very casual. You can wear almost any watch with that look.

What do you want the watch to do?

Here are some good choices in a variety of styles:

  • Seiko 5 SNK: small, yet stylish, automatic, and iconic. Fits on 18mm straps. Other Seiko models are under 100 Euros, but they have metal bracelets, which would look good, but you indicated you didn't want one. You can usually change straps however quite easily.
  • Casio G-Shock This is a great tool watch. It is robust, water resistant, solar charging, and atomic syncing (ie, accurate to the second). This is my watch. It is not sold in my country so I had to import it. The prices of the regular 5600 were not as good as they were in my country, so the 5610 is a better choice.
  • Timex makes a wide variety of quartz watches that are a good deal usually.

There are many more options, however, I had trouble finding watches that I knew for reasonable prices on the Italian Amazon.
