A luxury watch is not extremely versatile.

Almost any watch can be versatile. Versatility is often about the person, not the item. Is the watch something you can use in a variety of environments that you consider likely? Then it is versatile.

A truly versatile watch should be one that can also handle the unexpected and which doesn't get in the way.

The Tag you linked to is very similar in styling to this Oceanus. Now that is a versatile watch. It is extremely well made, robust (tough movement and tough solar), extremely accurate, and not only suitable for more dressy occasions, it has a high degree of water resistance.

With LVMH, you pay a ton of the brand, before you even get the product. Of course, get the watch you want, but if you want a mechanical luxury watch, don't think you are getting simplicity and functionality.

If you get a mechanical watch, be sure to consider maintenance of it. Add a single unexpected service cost at least to your budget. Servicing that movement would probably be between $250-450, depending on what you wanted done.
