Senate Democrats Are Circulating Plans for Government Takeover of the Internet

What youve listed here makes sense that this proposal is horrific. However, there is one thing that is mentioned on the politic sub that sounds good. But knowing the sub it could very well just be an outright lie.

A user in politics:

I love how the title tries to frame the narrative and does not actually report on what is going on.

If anyone bothers to read, this is why they are scare-mongering

"New powers for consumers: Warner’s staffers raised the idea of a law mimicking Europe’s GDPR privacy rules in the United States or offering a more limited right for users to consent to the use of their data."

It would fuck the whole customer information sales market of people cashing in on your information without asking or consent. At moment you have to opt out of things, In the EU, the companies have to ask YOU to opt in.

I had been thinking about this specific issue for a while now. Germany has an opt in. Which has it to where no pictures and information(even by an account that doesnt identify you) of yours can be posted and kept. Anywhere on the net without your consent. You know how those dating sites were busted for still having data on accounts that were supposed to have been deleted by the user? It would make that illegal.

Given what you've wrote here. This users claims must be a lie.
