Senator Markey: Trump Is Wrong About Expanding U.S. Nuclear Capabilities, Will Make World a More Dangerous Place

It'll be decent, to start. Then the media will downplay, dismiss, ridicule, and marginalize, (as they always do) to protect the elites and the power structure they've inherited. They'll focus on the young, unattractive, and the weird, just to make it all seem unrelatable. They'll focus on the buffoons and coverts who inevitably show up to take things too far, or in the wrong direction. They'll tell us to move on, while shifting the goal posts for all to see ("Impeachment!", "2018!", "2020!", etc) in order to help ease things along. They'll appeal to our sense of nationalism, and show us how, in just the right lighting, even the biggest, most putrid pile of piss and shit can glisten and gleam patriotic when wrapped in a flag, placed on a pedestal, and featured in a serious, teary-eyed, nation-wide broadcast. They'll show us how much better those who support our new President are than those out protesting, as they're repeatedly depicted as cool, mature, smug, and confident.

This will work to create a deep an immediate societal rift, resulting in other Americans standing up and fighting against those who are protesting on behalf of those being protested. They will clamor to any possible reason for denouncing such actions, no matter how vague, superficial, meaningless, or factually incorrect they may be.

Those who might join will quickly lose hope, and talk themselves out of making any sort of effort. They will see those out there, cold, exposed, emotional, steadily losing their dignity for days and weeks on end, hardly even being noticed at all. And when they are, it'll seem entirely negative, and pointless. And so, nothing will be done. They'll pocket a reason to give up, and repeat it back like a mantra, to themselves, and to others. It's just so easy to absolve ourselves of guilt.

And besides, it's so much easier this way. We can go back to planning our next big purchase, wondering over technological progress, planning our future family developments, and working our days away. It may not be the happiest life, but at least it's not devastating. And what if it isn't so bad, and we're all just making a big fuss out of nothing? This is America, after all. Have you never seen a movie? Nothing real can ever go wrong in America. The only ones who think themselves wronged are usually the ones who society tends downplay, dismiss, ridicule, and marginalize. And we trust in society, don't we? So one can only assume they must certainly deserve it.
