I understand that. However, I think the difference is that we trumpet s*it around the world and pretend that we are holier than thou. I think this is what irritates people. You go in for oil and kill 100k civilians and not even mention that anywhere and pretend they don't matter 'cause what would an Iraqi or Afghani do with their s*itty lives anyway while on the other end you are calling everyone else you don't like a murderer. USSR could not put nukes in Cuba but we can in Ukraine - in the former case it was the red line for us and f*ck Cuba's right to make its own decisions but in the latter it is a mad strongman killer and oh how dare we deny Ukraine the right to self determination?? You go ahead and unilaterally decide Kosovo is a country and give it independence and finance it and when Crimea does the same for itself, oh no wait, it is an international precedent and a land grab orchestrated by someone else ('cause Kosovo won its own independence? - Russia protested back then but to no avail, we ignored them). Sell democracy around the world (under the threat of a gun or sanctions) all the while spraying people in -20F at home with water cannons for protesting infrastructure/pipelines and arrest old grannies chained to equipment with use of state police and private contractors. Tell people somewhere else how to live in democracy while filling prisons (4% of world population is 25% of world prison population?). Declaring infrastructure protest a felony at home but encourage protest/coup in Venezuela when infrastructure gets nationalized. Tell people they are not free somewhere else but here people die from lack of access to healthcare or forego services 'cause they cannot afford them. Students at home finishing school loaded with debt while telling others to provide equal access to this or that and make sure it is financed with government money. The list is so long, I think a book can be written. After a while the s*it just gets old. We are not the best, we are not even close, we are not the beacon of democracy, we are just a big bully with a big set of guns who wallow in what we think we are from 50 years ago. In fact, by many standards, we are a 3rd world country. I am so tired of always being in everyone else's business. For once, we should just ignore what is happening somewhere else and focus on the s*it show at home.
