September 13th - Weeding Wednesday

I can pare down my routine to five products excluding eyeshadow, but if I do my makeup at all I'm using multiple eyeshadows. I'll try for nine products.

Eyeshadows, lipsticks and bushes are all products I gravitate towards. I definitely have the most eyeshadows, and lipsticks and blushes are probably about even. I'd still say blushes are the most excessive category because there's much less variety between them than there is between the eyeshadows and lipsticks that I have. I definitely have a handful in my collection that I wouldn't miss if they disappeared.

I think the reason I go through so many steps is because I get used to seeing my face that way, and I miss them if I haven't done them. There are things I can do without- I like highlighter but I prefer a subtle highlight that's only noticeable when it catches the light, so if I'm in a rush I can skip it. I do minimal contouring anyway so it's not a huge deal if I don't do it. I can skip lipstick too and it usually looks fine. But if I'm doing my makeup I have todo my eyes because I feel like my face is very visually bottom-heavy and will look unbalanced if I don't. If I do my eyes I have to do my brows because otherwise they'll look too light. And for some reason my uneven skin tone seems so much more obvious when I'm wearing other makeup so I have to have some kind of foundation. I'm okay with not wearing makeup if I'm not doing anything important, but if I start the minimum is base, eyes and brows.
